Galvanization or galvanizing is the process of applying a protective zinc coating to steel or iron, to prevent rusting. The most common method is hot-dip galvanizing, in which the parts are submerged in a bath of molten hot zinc.

Hot-dip galvanizing deposits a thick, robust layer of zinc-iron alloys on the surface of a steel item. The hot-dip process generally does not reduce strength on a measurable scale with the exception of high-strength steels (>1100 MPa) where hydrogen embrittlement can become a problem.

Lubricants, coolants, corrosion inhibitors, cleaners, coatings, fluxes and other chemicals all are used and thus intermixed in metal manufacturing, forming, fabrication, welding, and finishing.

Foundry Engg. : A foundry is a factory that produces metal castings. Metals are cast into shapes by melting them into a liquid, pouring the metal into a mold, and removing the mold material after the metal has solidified as it cools. The most common metals processed are aluminum and cast iron.
