Walkathon on Organ Donation- The "NDTV-Fortis More To Give Organ Donation Walkathon" was held on 25th November, 2018. As always, Gilardians participated in the event but the extra edge for us was that this event commenced with "Jiyunde Raho", our play on Organ Donation. This was followed by famous Punjabi singer, Satinder Sartaj's address, before the flag off. Aimed at spreading awareness on the need and importance of Organ Donation, the annual event is held in Fortis Hospitals in various cities, on the same day.

Waste Segregation drive at Gilard in June. The teams from Gilard and M.C. met every Wednesday in market places where they educated people that waste segregation is a simple habit which can be developed by keeping two dustbins at home. These dustbins can be identified as Green & Blue dustbins or any colored dustbins just labeled as ‘Wet Waste’ & ‘Dry Waste’. Different waste materials require different ways of treatment, so mixed waste cannot be treated. Segregation makes the recycling of the waste easier.

Waste Segregation Sensitization - We all wish for better living conditions but we also need to play a responsible role to contribute towards achieving this in our country. Let us work towards appropriate waste segregation, starting from our homes. Gilard is doing its bit by ensuring waste segregation and making compost for our lawns from the wet waste generated in the company premises. We are also spreading awareness amongst the masses on Wet & Dry Waste segregation, in fairs, schools and other public places.

Say No to Plastic - Our new CSR initiative launched on 2nd October 2019, focused on sensitization of the immediate society on discontinuing single use plastic. The message of 'Swachh Bharat' & 'Say No to Single Use Plastic' was highlighted to the general public on various platforms by Gilard’s very own ‘Gandhi Ji’. Gilardians dancing on a national level song - Tik Tik Tik Tik kasam yeh khayen re , a 2.29 mins performance at various places has gained popularity. On You tube it has crossed 1,104,633 views.

We are Spreading Organ Donation Awareness- Our play "Jiyunde Raho" makes the audience aware of the need to pledge organs, how to get themselves registered, and how the actual circumstances close to the time of any person’s death decide whether he /she can actually be a donor or no. It inspires people not to insist on keeping their organs after death. All these serious messages in a light and entertaining mood, this is the beauty of our play, "Jiyunde Raho", meaning Stay Alive! The play has been written and directed by Director HRD & CSR and has been enacted by Gilardians who have beautifully put the act together.

Green Wave Continues: Green colour is associated with nature and it sustains life on this earth. It symbolizes renewal & growth . It is believed that green represents the Chakra of the chest, where we find the heart and the lungs. When we are angry or anxious the energy coming from this colour restores the normal state of these organs and of our mind. We planted 250 saplings in Mohali. It may seem to be a small gesture towards the dire need for environmental protection, but it is a strong one because besides planting we took care of these saplings for one year from the month of plantation to ensure the saplings did not wither away due to lack of care. The tree varieties planted included mango, guava, neem, amla, imli and gulmohar. The areas covered were the Fire Station, the Cremation Ground, the Night Shelter, Government Schools, Public Parks and roadsides.

Pledge Your Organs Today & Live After Death - Our Team EHSAS at Gilard realized that more lives could be saved if more people knew the true facts about organ donation. This made us work towards sensitization of Gilardians in 2016 with help of Fortis, Mohali and by the end of the organ donation drive, 50 Gilardians pledged to donate their organs. Continuing with this endeavor we supported Fortis’ walkathon on Organ Donation on 26th November 2017 by taking our team of 50 Gilardians to participate in it with handmade posters on the subject. The event was focused on spreading awareness about the need to pledge organs.

Thirst Quencher in hot June - Guru Arjan Dev Ji was the first Sikh Guru to be martyred on 16th June 1606. Every year around this day several stalls are set up on road sides by Sikhs to offer cool sherbet (soft drink) to every passer by along with Prasad of black chanas. The drink relieves people from thirst caused by the scorching heat of June month. We at Gilard hold this kind of chabeel (stall) every year and our volunteers enjoy this full day activity outside our main entry gate.
