Uses
- Ceramic industry in tiles as a green pigment due to ability to withstand high temperatures without losing the green colour.
- To impart green colour in glass where light protection of interior is required.
- Used in refractory bricks to line metallurgical and glass furnaces/kilns due to its high melting point of 2300 °C.
- It is used in brake linings due to its ability to withstand wear as well as its abrasive nature.
- Green chrome oxide is often used in industrial paints where a lot of wear is involved. For example, military vehicles are painted with green chrome oxide paint. It retains its color in high heat and light exposure, making it ideal for outdoor applications.
- In paste form, green chrome oxide can be used to polish glass and sharpen metal blades. It's used as an abrasive for razor sharpening.
- It mixes well with clay and can be used as an ingredient in glazes.
