Uses
- Major use is in tin-plating and for manufacture of tin sulphate salt.
- It is used in textile dyeing as a mordant, i.e. to fasten colours and give a brighter shade.
- Used as a catalyst in the formation of plastic polylactic acid (PLA) and acetone peroxide.
- As a reducing agent, tin chloride is also used in silvering of mirrors.
- Other minor uses include usage as reductant in organic reactions and for detection of gold compounds.
